Mandatory personnel health checks

Periodical mandatory personnel health checks

Mandatory personnel health checks is not a luxury, but necessity!

It is important to know, that occupational risk factors and mandatory personnel health checks are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania.* They explain in detail the conditions under which personnel must be checked and how often it should be done. It should be remembered, that such factors as work with a computer, driving, static shoulder position during the work etc. are legally considered to be risky factors. The Labour Inspectorate is entitled to check (and punish) how these legislative acts are being enforced.

An employer complying with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania must send their employees to undergo a medical health check at the expense of the company.** Only people in time underwent health check are entitled to work.

How do mandatory personnel health checks are performed?

Health checks are carried out by GP (family doctor). Physician will evaluate each employee's overall health, will interview, collect medical history (figure out various issues related to diseases of the past), will measure blood pressure, listen to heart tones, lungs, evaluate the auditory, visual abilities, mental and nervous systems, etc.

General practice nurse will take a blood sample for basic or/and biochemical test (the latter is recommended for people who have not had a blood test done during the last twelve months). Finally, general practitioner will inform if any further tests or consultations of a certain medical specialist are necessary for a particular employee.
